Dog problems? Fret not, as Cesar Millan is here to offer his helping hand to advocate the harmonious living of dogs and humans, all with simple dog psychology.

Fellow dog owners or not, you’ve probably seen him in his Emmy-nominated series, “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan”, and you’ll be pleased to know that the renowned dog expert is making a trip down to Singapore for the very first time in his Cesar Millan Live: Unleash Your Packpower Tour!

Famous celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Scarlett Johansson, Will Smith, and Nicolas Cage, all had their beloved dogs balanced by this TV sensation and this show will give you an opportunity to witness his talents right before your eyes.

“If you had told me when I was growing up in Mexico, that one day I would be travelling the world with my own live show, I don’t think I would have ever believed it. I rehabilitate dogs and train people, so to be given the chance to share my talents to help dog owners become calm and assertive pack leaders with their dogs really helps me fulfill my vision of making the world a better place… one dog at a time.”

With that, we leave you to the man himself as he shares his insight and experience with us.

Exclusive Interview

What's your impression of Singapore so far, and is there anything you're expecting or looking forward to?
You know, to be honest I normally do not have an expectation with new environments. You never know what life has waiting for you. I am looking forward to the surprises that Singapore has in store for me.

When did you realise you had a talent as such? How did it occur?
When I was very young, my grandfather taught me about dogs.  I came to America to learn from Americans to train dogs and I saw the problems dogs were having were because their owners didn’t have common sense. Dog Psychology is “the logical cycle of life”. I saw an opportunity because there was a need. I came to learn, but destiny had a different agenda for me, it sent me to teach.

How would you describe your relationship with dogs?
I connect with dogs. I ask myself these questions:
” How do I feel around my dogs? What is my energy like around my dogs? Do I walk with a purpose so that my dog feels safe? Am I consistent with my dogs?” Dogs want balance, harmony and simplicity; I try to give them that balance.

Have you ever encountered a case that stumped you?
Absolutely! That is how I became aware of how to educate people. A case I couldn’t solve showed me the importance of ending puppy mills. Because when a dog is not bred properly a neurological problem is going to arise and sometimes you just can’t help that dog.

Is there any breed of dogs that are, by default, harder to train?
I connect with dogs, I do not train them. They all have the same instincts, birth, life, death. They all drink water, eat food, socialize, they all use their nose. The breed is genetics, so once you understand the order of animal first, species second, breed third, name last. You see, some dogs just require a bit more patience.  A dog owner must find what inspires or motivates their particular dog. I say, find your dog’s passion and you can teach that dog anything.

Personally, which are your favourite breeds of dogs and why?
I don’t have a favourite breed. Some just need my help more at some times, I want to help the breed that needs help at the moment.
