Sylvester Stallone has been a long time aficionado since he bought his first Panerai in 1995 and wore it for his blockbuster movie Daylight, which gave the Italian watchmaker a brand new light. He followed it up by wearing a series of Panerai watches in movies such as Rambo 4 and the first The Expendables. Following the huge success of the original movie, Expendables 2 will take things one-step further with its all star-crew featuring the same timepiece. One key thing to note is that in the movie The Expendables 2, Sylvester Stallone was the only person to don the PAM 382 Bronzo on his right wrist whereas as the rest of the team wears their Panerai timepieces on the left, though Stallone himself is usually sported wearing his large timepiece collection on the left hand side as the lugs and crown is more accessible and easily adjusted when adorn on the left.

The PAM 382 comes with a 47mm bronze case that uses Phosphor Bronze, a specific alloy of copper and tin with phosphorus added to remove oxygen. The resulting bronze alloy is highly resistant to wear and chemical corrosion, and is used for springs, marine propellers and some musical instruments as phosphor bronze has a distinctive reddish-orange hues and tonal qualities.
Over a period of time the watch will slowly and subtly change in its colour and develop a brown greenish patina. The dial of the watch follows the Panerai’s Submersible designs with a gentle greenish hue with bar markers at the 12 and 6 o’clock position and the luminous circular markers and skeletonized indicators proving essential when in low light conditions that allows for optimal legibility in the dark.
The movement that powers this special watch is the in-house Panerai P-9000 calibre that is equipped with a self-winding movement which displays both time and date with a 3 day power reserve. The back also features a titanium case with a sapphire crystal exhibition see through case back. This will further ensure that those with slightly more sensitive skin will not have any allergic reactions as the case rarely touches your delicate skin with the elevated case back.
